Over 50 years ago Dr. Shaklee developed a product he called Herb-Lax.  It has become the best selling Shaklee product.

I have used this product for 38 years on a daily basis and it is the first item that goes in the suitcase when we travel!

Dr. Shaklee combined nine herbs in Herb Lax to speed up the movement of foodstuffs through the large intestine.  He was able to accomplish this without the usual unwanted side effects of taking a laxative.

Why does Herb-Lax work the way it does?  The nine herbs – senna leaf powder, buckthorn bark powder, licorice root, blue malva powder, culver root, alfalfa, fennel seed, anise seed and rhubarb all work differently to effect a gentle daily cleanse.

Senna, buckthorn, licorice and blue malva all have a mild laxative effect.  Licorice root, alfalfa, fennel seed and anise seed aid in digestion.  Licorice also reduces the production of stomach acid, which helps eliminate heartburn, and relieves gas, as does anise seed.  Anise seed also acts to relieve stomach cramps.  Rhubarb is unusual in that in high doses it can cause a laxative effect, and it has the opposite effect in small doses (which are present in Herb Lax).
